AppsForHealth at Mohawk

By: robmitchell, May 19, 2011

On Friday May 27th and Saturday May 28th, Mohawk College is hosting the first annual AppsForHealth un-conference for post-secondary students in Canada.

Students from all faculties are welcome and over 70 have signed up already at

www.appsforhealth.ca. What makes this conference different is that we want the students to form cross-functional teams (health sciences, engineering, software development, business…) and then propose and implement workable solutions to real world problems. We have enlisted several health delivery organizations to describe problems and work with the teams to create practical solutions.

The conference is also a great opportunity for corporate development teams to come out, participate, meet the sponsors, network with the students and collaborate. Meet with speakers and sponsors from Apple, St. Joseph’s Healthcare, Canada Health Infoway, the UN Foundation, CMAT, The Ottawa Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences, McMaster Children’s Hospital, ‘Leave the Pack Behind’ and Sick Kids’ in an intimate, fun atmosphere. Then stay for the wine and cheese, patio bbq, sample local wine from Niagara, craft Beers, 3 live bands, dj and SoftwareHamilton DemoCamp in the evening.

Did I mention that over 10K in cash and prizes is up for grabs? Visit appsforhealth.ca , and follow appsforhealth on twitter. Please spread the word to students and healthcare IT people you know. We are planning for 75 students so we are almost full!
