Sponsor Spotlight: MWNW welcomes Samsung

By: Samantha Wong, April 20, 2011

For over 70 years, Samsung has been dedicated to making a better world through diverse businesses that today span advanced technology, semiconductors, skyscraper and plant construction, fashion, medicine, finance, hotels, and more. Our flagship company, Samsung Electronics, leads the global market in high-tech electronics manufacturing and digital media. Through innovative, reliable products and services; talented people; a responsible approach to business and global citizenship; and collaboration with our partners and customers, Samsung is taking the world in imaginative new directions

Samsung Electronics’ vision for the new decade is, “Inspire the World, Create the Future.”

This new vision reflects Samsung Electronics’ commitment to inspiring its communities by leveraging Samsung’s three key strengths: “New Technology,” “Innovative Products,” and “Creative Solutions.” — and to promoting new value for Samsung’s core networks — Industry, Partners, and Employees. Through these efforts, Samsung hopes to contribute to a better world and a richer experience for all.

It is a honor to sponsor an event at coincides with what we as an organization are aspiring to achieve and look forward to sharing ideas and collaborating creatively at this year’s Make Web Not War event.

Why did you sponsor Make Web Not War?

Both the developer and social media communities are of great importance to Samsung.  The creativity and ingenuity provided by the developer community completes the hardware offering provided by Samsung.  Without the developer community, our offering is nothing more than a box.

The importance of social media is also great as it provides Samsung an unbiased opinion of how we are moving the needle.  It also allows us a voice to exchange ideas amidst passionate influencers to insure our solutions move forward in the right direction.

Sponsoring “Make Web Not War” was a “no brainer” as the event combines the power of developers and social media advocates in one venue and allows us to further our relationship with both communities.

What do you hope this event will help achieve?

Our goal is to establish deeper relationships with the Canadian Developer community to help nurture further creativity and to align with influential social media advocates to exchange ideas and provide support.

What are you most looking forward to at the event?

Sharing ideas at an event attended by the open source community always results in interesting conversations and further evolution of the initially shared idea.  I am excited to be part of an event attended by individuals and organizations that have the ability to shape the way the general public perceives and consumes information available everywhere.
